Gonzo's Gone Gone

That was always too good and cute a nickname for such an asshole.
After years of disgrace and ineffectiveness Alberto Gonzales resigned today, effective in 3 weeks. I remember when he was first made counsel and then AG and it was trumpeted as a great move for the country and also a big step for him personally and his seemingly limitless future. People were even thinking of him being nominated for the Supreme Court (halfway down the page)
Yada yada yada, which leads us to today.
And then after"Al" finished authorizing torture with semantic wrangling, trying to turn the Attorney's Office into a political apparatus and lying about wiretapping, Georgie, in his own little world as usual, blamed Congress for, and I quote, "months of unfair treatment, that has created a harmful distraction at the Justice Department" and for dragging Alberto Gonzales' "good name trough the mud." Coming on the heels of Karl Rove resigning it seems like that the rats that ate through the steering control wires, are now fleeing the ship they've led astray.
And if Bush actually goes through with his reported plan to nominate Michael Skeletor Chertoff (he's been FANTASTIC as DHS secretary) as Attorney General he'll have even more balls than I though, especially to risk making an already incredibly tough confirmation (continually refusing and disregarding Congress' subpoenas might piss them off a tad) almost impossible. But of course that wouldn't be the first time Bush has disregarded commonsense and popular will; he's been doing this to the world for the last 6 and a half years.

So Albie; peace out. I have a hard time believing anyone will miss you. You were easily the worst Attorney General of my lifetime, and that's saying a helluva lot.
