Political Porno: John Edwards Profile in Men's Vogue

Men's Vogue, which seems like a Details meets GQ rip-off, has a pretty extensive article on John Edwards. It's a pretty good read that touches on most of the "problems" with John; his wealth, his "Southern Authenticity," his guardness, and Elizabeth's cancer. Though I must admit that at certain points he seems to be trying too hard to be Robert Kennedy, since when is emulating the best political hope America has had in the last 40 years a bad thing? I also love that during one of his interviews he was eating Bojangles'. Ah Durham. Anyway this profile doesn't go into as many specific policy details as this recent New York Times Magazine piece, it seems more flattering (of course I don't think Vogue is known for its hard hitting journalism.) But I have some problems with how he is necessarily characterized. Since when is being successful and rich a barrier to caring about the less fortunate? When did being able to build a dream house become a detriment? How did being well-groomed (and obviously attractive) come to mean you're less of a "man" and "soft on terror?" He still gives me hope that people care about people and that they actually will try to push for change out of a pure spirit. Plus he just looks soo presidential (look at that picture!) and since the President is on television basically every day, it's not a bad face to see constantly.

And for a running mate there is no one better, or more qualified (besides maybe Bill Richardson) than Joe Biden. He was originally my choice but he's kind of old, and balding and at times a little grumpy. But he is so smart and knows his sh*t and would definitely lend John Edwards more gravitas, as well as significant foreign policy experience.
Edwards/Biden '08- I can dig it.
